» First and foremost, I must state that with a limited vision into the art world(s), these articles were eye opening to say the least. My expertise (if you call it that) is in the freelance web and graphic design world. I am a businessman. I communicate. If I had my druthers I would be a rock star, playing my guitar in front of screaming fans, people waiting backstage to chat, all the fruity umbrella drinks I want, a buffet line a mile long and a bus lined in decadent comfort waiting to drive me to the next gig.

» To pay for my guitar habit I design. But I digress.

» Sure, I sometimes walk around with my graphic designer nose in the air. My ñartî is typically purposeful. But I suppose that is defined by the purveyor of the purpose. Fine art purists will often feel that I am a sellout. They are missing that point that I am not a fine artist nor would I ever want to be (unless it is behind a guitar). I am an Illustrious Utilitarian Communications Creator. Do I like fine art? But of course! It is wonderful when done wellƒ yet the times that fine art is done well seem to be fleeting.

» I find it interesting that Hirst is buying back his art so as to ñcontrol his own marketî. If he has the money, then why sell in the first place. Or is he trying to increase the value? I can see the situation now. The value increases exponentially when the artist bought the piece back. So is Hirst re-claiming what meant so much to him? Maybe. Heck, letÍs give him the benefit of the doubt.

» But I can project what would be my reasoning for doing something like that: to increase the value exponentially. Man, do I enjoy eating, hot water, it sure is easier to read with the lights on and I enjoy traveling. Maybe I should be in MBA School. I already can design a little, why am I not studying business? Oh yeah, because design is in my blood. And I do have so much to learn about my drug of choice.

» Hmmƒ NADA (the Spanish pun is great, great, great). I am into the utopian art dream. Wait, I am the utopian art dream. I am not a communist even though I am a registered Democrat. But maybe that is so I can vote the weaker Democrat in office so a real politician can come in for the kill! This is of course a farce.

» Unfortunately I have even less to say about the art-dealing world. It is foreign and strange to me. Most of the time when I visit a gallery I am there to photograph the architecture, building (interior and exterior) design and the people in it. I am glad to see some young energetic people bucking the system and doing some cool and hell, even fun stuff with art. ARTƒ what a funny word. Maybe my issue is that when you have four grand or even one hundred grand or hell, a million dollars to spend on art, why wouldnÍt you help some poor people, donate to charity or do anything else with the money than collect something that hangs on a freaking wall or collects dust.

» Sorry, is this forum not the place for me to stand on my little soapbox? Bottom-line, good job boys.

» Interesting, ñƒbigger is better and more is moreî, ñƒa movie theatre in Hollywood with enormous screens, In fact, sometimes IÍll chose to see a worse movie there rather than a better one somewhere else just because itÍs on a bigger screen.î Here we have the bastardization of the art world(s). It has finally been touched by the drive-thru-super-size-culture. So the question is, if the art any good? Sadly, It rarely matters.

» So CameronÍs concluding questions is directed to Robert C. Morgan. Why would you want to separate art from the commercial world? And better yet, why do you need the initial in your name? I love that Warhol made millions from reproducing product labels. Genius. Genius. Genius.

» I NEED to play guitar daily, I NEED music daily, just as a junky needs that sweet fixƒ and I can understand that some people out there NEED art and NEED to create it. And furthermore, want to keep it from the perversions of man and money.

» Bottom-line of these articles is this: how can you put a price on emotion? Yet given the chance, IÍll sell all the albums I can.

Money like I like it is nothing less than mysticism - Money is a glory.
